How to choose your clothes for the gym

Even if it doesn’t seem, the clothes you wear at the fitness club are extremely important. The right outfit can help you do your workouts better, more comfortable, and even some injuries. Here’s how to choose your clothes for the gym.

When choosing clothes for the fitness room, the first t-shirts you need. You have to choose the ones that are designed for sports and based on technologies designed to help you when you train.

We won’t go into much detail, but we tell you that t-shirts made of super-elastic material are best for workouts at the gym (cotton tops are not recommended). These have the advantage of not staying too wet for a long time, which means that when you sweat during training you will not remain wet and you will not feel uncomfortable. They also do not lack the body.

The pants you are sporting are also as important as you can, if you want to have a successful workout.

First of all, choose pants that are your size and in no case be too wide. Wide clothes in the room are not only uncomfortable, but they can endanger you. If you are running on a treadmill or cycling you will see that you will not be able to do the exercises easily. That’s why you have to choose pants that allow you to move around freely.

For men, the best are the shorts, and for the women yoga pants or leggings are the best option.

The type of shoes you choose for sports are very important. Note, however, that not every type of sports shoe is suitable for going to the gym.

When you plan to workout at the fitness club, you should wear light and comfortable shoes. You also have to make sure that you have taken the right action. Here’s what you need to do:

When it comes to sports shoes it is best to buy them from a store where you can try on your shoes, not from the internet. After you’ve got your shoes on your feet, stand up for a few minutes and walk into them to see how you feel.

When you buy clothes for the gym, choose things that suit you now, even if you plan to be weaker or have more muscle mass in a few months. If you take on clothes that are too big or too small you will not be able to move, and your workout will become uncomfortable.

You may also waste more time adjusting your clothes, pulling them up and down, instead of focusing on your exercises.

The idea of spending money on clothes in which you practically do nothing but sweat doesn’t seem to be the smartest thing in the world. Well, this is really not the point to scratch. The prices for fitness clothes are not that high and believe us that the quality ones will make the difference in your workout. You will feel comfortable, you will look good and can even be a help in your training, such as suitable sports shoes.

What type of aerobics classes to choose according to your goals

Aerobics classes can be the perfect choice when you don’t want to workout alone or if you want to try something special. There are a myriad of types of group workout classes that are suitable for anyone, whether you are a fitness veteran or have never passed a club. However, before choosing such a class, you must ask yourself what you want to achieve behind them. Only then, depending on these goals, can you choose your aerobics class or classes that suit you.

If you want to tone certain groups of muscles as quickly as possible

Do you want to have a flatter abdomen, get rid of the fat on your hips or carve your shoulders? Try those classes that are exclusively for the body parts you want to work on. Generally, the names of the classes will betray the parts of the body they focus on. If you also do cardio workout, then try those group fitness classes that also use weights.

If you want to be slim

If you want to develop your body in a harmonious way, then you should choose classes that focus on exercises for the abdomen and lumbar area, as well as exercises for strengthening the muscles. In fact, if you want a slimmer body, you will need to train like a professional dancer. Classes based on ballet movements are the most effective in this case. Also, pilates classes are a good choice as they focus on the natural alignment of the spine.

If you want to work all your muscle groups, but you don’t like running

If you hate the treadmill (elliptical or swimming bikes), but want to do cardio then consider a fun and fast activity with a trainable soundtrack and an energetic instructor. Dance classes, such as zumba, can help you burn up to 400 calories in an hour and will keep you interested from start to finish. Some classes also use weights for higher intensity. Kickboxing or cycling classes are also great for keeping your heart healthy.

If you want something to help you relax

If you are very stressed and need some activity to relax, then exercise can greatly help you. If you like something more peaceful, look for a yoga class that focuses on relaxing, breathing and meditation positions. Avoid more complicated courses if you do not want to put much effort. If you don’t have the patience to meditate, it means that you need more intense activity like kickboxing or CrossFit to help you get rid of the negative energies.

Abbie Eaton: ‘I really enjoyed The Grand Tour but returning to racing was always the goal’

With new hopes and ambitions, 2020 is not only a new year for Abbie Eaton but almost a rebirth. The 28-year-old might be best known as the test driver on recent series of The Grand Tour but racing is her passion. Putting cars through their paces for Clarkson et al was only a welcome stopgap, one now concluded as Eaton anticipates returning to the serious business behind the wheel in the second season of the all-female W Series.

What she wants to do is race but Eaton’s career ground to a halt through lack of funding four years ago. She had repeatedly proved herself on track yet was left disheartened that success did not translate into backing. The W Series is her way back. The championship had a major impact in its first season and is set to build on its success this year. For Eaton, January cannot be over soon enough and waiting until the first round at St Petersburg in May is going to be trying.

Abbie Eaton

When she does finally take to the grid it will be not only a vindication of her determination but, well, like coming home. “I was still in my mummy’s belly when I first went to a race track,” she says. “I was two months old when I first went as a baby to watch Dad karting. I have been at circuits ever since then.”

Her dad, Paul, was a committed tin top racer and mum, Denise, supported him, with Abbie in tow. By the time she was seven their daughter wanted in as well. Watching karting at Knockhill in Fife she asked her parents for a go but they were too busy.

Unsurprisingly her parents ultimately gave in. Eaton had her own kart when she was 10, and on her first outing in the cold and sleet of a January morning, all she would say was: “When can I go again?”
From there racing was all.

Since then Eaton considers that she has generally enjoyed support from male counterparts but acknowledges that it has sometimes been necessary to get her elbows out. “If guys think a girl will back out they will try and scare you a little bit,” she says. “In karting one guy would always knock me off on one corner. He did it again and at the next corner I just hit him off really hard into the barriers. Afterwards he came up to me and grabbed me round the neck but I looked him in the eye and said: ‘You won’t do it again though, will you?’”

Eaton won her class on her first year in adult touring car racing when she was 17, taking 15 wins from 18 races and 16 podiums. She followed it by competing in the Mazda MX-5 Cup, almost entirely self-funded by her far from well-off family. Her dad built the cars and her mum ran the team. In 2014 she won the SuperCup. In 2016 a season in the British GT championship was also successful, with second in class, but she could go no further.

Having never driven single-seaters before, Eaton is boldly taking on a real challenge, compared to which The Grand Tour was a pleasing distraction. “I really enjoyed doing it,” she says. “But returning to racing was always the goal.” Clearly, she cannot wait to continue the real journey that has consumed her since she was a child.

“When you’re young you have all these dreams and think: ‘If I am good and I work hard, I will be able to succeed’. You have all the confidence and determination that it will work,” she says. “As you get older you realise it’s not as easy as you thought but you don’t give up.”

Strength training for the buttocks muscles

The buttocks muscles not only offer you an aesthetic posterior, but are equally important for the overall functioning of the entire lower chain. You will need strong buttocks to contribute to hip extension and propulsion forward.

Also the strong buttocks are essential for reducing the risk of injury and for alleviating or even disappearing the lumbar pain. In addition, strong buttocks allow you to be more agile, lift heavier weights, climb stairs and walk or run, putting less stress on the joints in the lower chain, thus managing to make your daily life less demanding.

When the gluteal muscles (buttocks muscles) are not strong, the entire lower body area may be out of balance. Pain in the lumbar area may also be a symptom of some weak buttocks. If the buttocks are not activated during walking and other forward movement patterns, it can cause pain and compression on the lumbar vertebrae.

Exercise 1
It starts from the lying position on the back, with the soles straight, with the knees bent and with the arms near the body. The soles must be separated at a width of hips and positioned close to the buttocks.Click on the heel and lift the hips .
The shoulders, hips and thighs should form a straight line at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the floor.Stay in the top position two times and then return to the starting position.
Perform 20 repetitions.

Exercise 2 Start from the stand position, with your feet side by side, and holding a dumbbell in your right hand at chest level. Step with your left foot back, keeping the heel high off the floor.
Lower the back knee, forming a 90-degree angle, so that both knees are bent and then return to the stand position, with the legs straight.
Perform 12 repetitions for each leg (you can also do this exercise without dumbbells).

Exercise 3 Stand with your feet close together and hold your hands together in front of your chest for balance. From this position bend your knees and lower your back until your hips are parallel to the floor. Get up, straighten your legs completely and lift your left foot to your back. Return to starting position and repeat the movement for right leg to complete one repetition. Perform 12 repetitions for each leg.

There are no foods to help you get rid of excess weight in a single region of the body, but there are plenty of foods that will speed up your metabolism. This way you will lose weight proportionately. In order to maximize the results of the exercises, the training program should be accompanied by a balanced and varied eating plan.

American boxer Patrick Day has died after suffering a brain injury in his fight against Charles Conwell in Chicago

American boxer Patrick Day has died, aged 27, four days after suffering a brain injury in his fight against Charles Conwell in Chicago.

Day was rushed to hospital on Saturday after he was knocked out by Conwell in the 10th round on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk’s fight with Chazz Witherspoon.

He was treated by a doctor in the ring and was stretchered by paramedics and transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

After having brain surgery, he was in an extremely critical condition for the next few days before his death was confirmed on Wednesday.

Promoter Lou DiBella said in a statement: “He was surrounded by his family, close friends and members of his boxing team, including his mentor, friend and trainer Joe Higgins. On behalf of Patrick’s family, team, and those closest to him, we are grateful for the prayers, expressions of support and outpouring of love for Pat that have been so obvious since his injury.

“Patrick Day didn’t need to box. He came from a good family, he was smart, educated, had good values and had other avenues available to him to earn a living. He chose to box, knowing the inherent risks that every fighter faces when he or she walks into a boxing ring. Boxing is what Pat loved to do.

“It becomes very difficult to explain away or justify the dangers of boxing at a time like this. This is not a time where edicts or pronouncements are appropriate, or the answers are readily available.

“It is, however, a time for a call to action. While we don’t have the answers, we certainly know many of the questions, have the means to answer them, and have the opportunity to respond responsibly and accordingly and make boxing safer for all who participate. This is a way we can honour the legacy of Pat Day.”

It’s the fourth boxing death of 2019 after Russian Maxim Dadashev and Hugo Alfredo Santillan of Argentina both lost their lives in July and Bulgarian Boris Stanchov passed away following a fight in September.

* Life’s too precious to waste it on this “sport”, hard to digest a young man is gone so needlessly soon. My respects to his family and friends. RIP.

Simone Biles: The four-time Olympic gold medalist

Simone Biles has more than just a few medals on the line this month at the world championships in Germany.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist has an opportunity to have herself written into the gymnastics Code of Points forever. If Biles lands a triple-double and double-double beam dismount at the world championships in Stuttgart, Germany, both moves will then be known as “the Biles” — which would mark the third and fourth elements named after her.

“Getting the skills named after me is really exciting, just to go out there and prove to myself that I can do them, especially under all of the pressure that will be there that night,” Biles said, via the Associated Press. “I feel like putting my name on a skill is really rewarding just because it’ll be in the Code forever as well as the medals. It’s something that I can hold onto just because I’m the one that did it first, so it’s really exciting.”

Biles practiced both elements on Tuesday, and said she’ll break out the triple-double on the floor in each competition. She’s not quite sure when she’ll go for the double-double dismount off the beam, however. Regardless, Biles feels great about each move in her arsenal.

“I feel really confident, and I’m excited to do them at the event,” Biles said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I never thought I would actually be able to do them one day, but [coaches Laurent Landi and Cecile Conqeteau-Landi] helped me believe in myself, and here we are. I feel like it’s not real, but it is.”

Biles is one of six Americans to compete for Team USA at the world championships, which marks the last major event until the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo next summer. She’ll be joined by MyKayla Skinner, Kara Eaker, Sunisa Lee, Grace McCallum and Jade Carey.
Should things go well for Biles this month, she could walk away from Germany as the most decorated female gymnast of all time.

Gettyimages: Simone Biles

The 22-year-old currently holds 20 medals at both the world championships and the Olympics combined, tied with Russian Svetlana Khorkina for the most ever won by a woman. Former Belarusian gymnast Vitaly Scherbo’s all-time record is within striking distance, too. Scherbo has 23 total medals to his name, the most ever won by a gymnast.
While Biles is already a household name when it comes to Team USA, she isn’t letting herself focus on that yet.

Before anything else, she said, she’s just a person. “I feel like if I were to label myself as a superstar, it would bring more expectations on me,” Biles said, via the Associated Press. “I would feel pressured, more in the limelight, rather than now. I just go out there and compete, try to represent Simone, not Simone Biles, whenever I go out there because at the end of the day I’m still a human being before I’m ‘Simone Biles the Superstar.’

Geoffrey Boycott ‘doesn’t give a toss’ about knighthood criticism

Geoffrey Boycott has said he “couldn’t give a toss” about criticism over Theresa May awarding him a knighthood in her resignation honours list. Domestic abuse charities and Labour said the honour should be removed from the ex-cricketer, who was convicted of beating his girlfriend in 1998. Boycott, who has always denied the assault, later questioned why the issue had been raised by the media.

Mrs May’s list of 57 names was made up of mostly political figures. Every departing prime minister can draw up a resignation honours list. Mrs May announced her resignation in June after failing to get support for the withdrawal agreement she had negotiated for the UK to leave the EU.

The former prime minister showed her love of cricket with knighthoods for Boycott and fellow former England captain Andrew Strauss. Boycott was fined £5,000 and given a three-month suspended sentence in 1998 after being convicted of beating his then-girlfriend Margaret Moore in a French Riviera hotel.

During the trial, the court heard Boycott pinned Miss Moore down and punched her 20 times in the face before checking out and leaving her to pay the bill. Boycott denied the allegations, saying Miss Moore had slipped after flying into a rage when he refused to marry her.

Mrs May, who introduced a landmark Domestic Abuse Bill to Parliament earlier this year, was accused of sending a “dangerous message” by Women’s Aid’s co-acting chief executive Adina Claire. She said the honour “should be taken away” from Boycott, adding that it sent “completely the wrong message” to survivors of domestic abuse.

Media captionWomen’s Aid co-leader Adina Claire says the knighthood sends ‘a terrible message’

Asked about the criticism from Women’s Aid by presenter Martha Kearney on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Boycott responded: “I don’t give a toss about her, love. It was 25 years ago so you can take your political nature and do whatever you want with it.”

The 78-year-old, who is part of the BBC’s cricket commentary team for the current Ashes series, added: “It’s very difficult to prove your innocence in another country, in another language. “I have to live with it – and I do. I’m clear in my mind, and I think most people in England are, that it’s not true.”

Media captionGeoffrey Boycott said his knighthood had been soured

In a subsequent interview, Boycott said that the day had been “soured” by Radio 4 “setting me up”, saying the station’s agenda had been to talk about domestic violence and “make publicity”. He told BBC’s Look North Yorkshire: “Is that what interviewing is about – is it always to ask difficult questions? Shouldn’t it be just a nice day for me?

“I said I don’t give a toss about her [Ms Claire from Woman’s Aid], not domestic violence. That’s not something anyone should feel good about.” A spokesperson for the Today programme said the question was “entirely appropriate… given the concerns raised about Geoffrey Boycott’s knighthood by Women’s Aid and others”.

Geoffrey Boycott
Image captionBoycott scored 8,114 runs in 108 Tests for England from 1964 to 1982

The shadow minister for women and equalities, Dawn Butler, joined the call for Boycott’s knighthood to be rescinded. “Honouring a perpetrator of domestic violence just because he is the former prime minister’s favourite sportsman shows how out of touch and nepotistic the honours list is,” she said, adding that the whole system needed “radically overhauling”. And former Spice Girl Melanie Brown tweeted that Boycott was “a disgrace to Yorkshire”, saying the “perpetrators of domestic abuse shouldn’t be held up as heroes EVER”.

The Woman’s Trust charity said it was “disappointed” to see Boycott included in the honour’s list because it either suggested that, despite his conviction, he was believed over the survivor, or his fame meant it did not matter.Skip Twitter post by @womanstrust

Boycott also had to apologise in 2017 after joking that he would have to “black up” to be given a knighthood, reportedly saying they were handed out to West Indian cricketers “like confetti”.

Mrs May once compared her determination to delivering Brexit with the fighting spirit in Boycott’s batting marathons. Telling journalists he was one of her sporting heroes, she said in November 2018: “Geoffrey Boycott stuck to it and he got the runs in the end.” Since his retirement from cricket, Boycott has gone on to become a successful broadcaster and is part of the BBC’s cricket commentary team.

A BBC spokesperson said: “He is a world renowned cricketer and employed for his knowledge and expertise of the sport.” The government checks all nominees are suitable for an honour, including whether they have paid their taxes. However, Mrs May’s resignation honours list would not have gone through the same review process as nominations for the New Year and Queen’s Birthday honours.

In those cases, a specific committee, for example one including figures from the world of sport, would consider the nominations before they go before the main honours committee. In contrast, people nominated for resignation honours only undergo propriety and probity checks by the Cabinet Office.

Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill
Image caption Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill were Mrs May’s closest advisers before the 2017 general election

The 37 men and 20 women on Mrs May’s list include members of Downing Street staff, political aides and lifelong supporters of the Conservative Party. It includes recipients from all four nations of the UK as well as non-political figures and members of civic society.

Labour said the honours rewarded “big Tory donors and No 10 cronies”. Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill, Mrs May’s former chiefs of staff who left their jobs after the 2017 general election in which the Conservatives lost their majority in the Commons, become Commanders of the Order of the British Empire, or CBEs.

The former prime minister’s chief EU negotiator Olly Robbins receives a knighthood. The senior civil servant helped to create Mrs May’s Brexit deal before it was defeated in Parliament three times. It has been announced that Mr Robbins is to join investment bank Goldman Sachs.

There is also a knighthood for her former director of communications, Robbie Gibb. When her predecessor David Cameron awarded a knighthood to his own head of communications, Craig Oliver, Mrs May later joked that she “retched violently” at seeing his name on the list.

Gavin Barwell and Olly Robbins
Image caption Gavin Barwell, left, and Olly Robbins are honoured by former PM Theresa May

Gavin Barwell, the former Tory MP who Mrs May brought in as her chief of staff to replace Mr Timothy and Ms Hill, is one of eight new Conservative peers. Sir Kim Darroch – who was forced to resign as ambassador to the US after comments he made about President Trump were leaked – has been made a crossbench peer. Boris Johnson, who was then running in the Tory leadership contest prior to becoming prime minister, was criticised at the time for not showing enough support for Sir Kim.

Meanwhile, there is a damehood for Cressida Dick, whose police career started at the age of 23 after a brief spell working in a fish-and-chip shop. She is one of just a few non-political figures on Mrs May’s list. Sir Simon Woolley, the founder of operation Black Vote, and Ruth Hunt, the ex-chief executive of Stonewall, have been made crossbench life peers.

British Empire Medals, or BEMs, have been awarded to Graham Howarth and Debra Wheatley – Mrs May’s head chef at Chequers and housekeeper at Downing Street respectively. The list of peerages – which sees those appointed sit in the House of Lords – include several nominated by other parties to sit on their benches.

‘Policy of restraint’

Among them are former NUT general secretary Christine Blower, for Labour, and former Green Party leader Natalie Bennett, who will become the party’s second peer in the House of Lords. The Lord Speaker, Lord Fowler, said Mrs May’s list was “substantially smaller” than those drawn up by predecessors, helping to reduce the size of the House of Lords.

Several MPs have received honours:

  • Sir Patrick McLoughlin, Conservative MP for Derbyshire Dales (Companion of Honour)
  • George Hollingbery, Conservative MP for Meon Valley (Knighthood)
  • David Lidington, Conservative MP for Aylesbury (Knighthood)
  • Charles Walker, Conservative MP for Broxbourne (Knighthood)
  • Brandon Lewis, Conservative MP for Great Yarmouth (CBE)
  • Julian Smith, Conservative MP for Skipton and Ripon (CBE)
  • Seema Kennedy, Conservative MP for South Ribble (OBE)

John Mann, the Labour MP for Bassetlaw and an independent government adviser on anti-Semitism, received a non-affiliated peerage. Mr Mann is standing down as MP, citing Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s handling of the party’s anti-Semitism crisis.

Margaret Ritchie, who was leader of the SDLP in Northern Ireland between 2010 and 2011, also received a non-affiliated peerage. She said she would remain “SDLP to the core” even though she has had to quit the party to become a peer. The former South Down MP made history in 2010 when she became the first leader of a nationalist party to wear a remembrance poppy. A source close to Mrs May said the list “recognises the many different people who have made a significant contribution to public life” during her political career.

Criticising Mrs May’s choices, Labour Party chairman Ian Lavery said: “It comes as no surprise that big Tory donors and Number 10 cronies are being honoured yet again. “The Tories only care about looking after their own and will only stand up for the wealthy few who fund them.” The SNP’s Pete Wishart accused Mrs May of “handing out peerages like sweeties”, adding that it was the “worst kind of cronyism”.

Michael Jordan: The greatest basketball player of all time

Michael Jordan is a American former professional basket ball player and current owner of the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is one of the most effectively marketed athletes of his generation, considered very instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world and is regarded by most as the greatest basketball player of all time.

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan was born in New York City on the 7th of February 1963, to Deloris and James Jordan. He is the fourth of five children. He was deemed to short when he tried out for the varsity basketball team during his sophomore school year at 1.80m.Motivated to prove his worth, he joined the Laney’s junior varsity team where he became their star player and tallied several 40-point games. The following summer he grew 10cm or 4inch taller and trained rigorously. He was recruited by a number of college basketball programs, including Duke, North Carolina, South Carolina, Syracuse and Virginia. Jordan later accepted a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he majored in cultural geography in 1981. As a freshman in Coach Dean Smith’s team-oriented system, he was named freshman of the year. He also made the game-winning jump shot in the 19982 championship game against Georgetown; this shot was later described by Jordan as the turning point in his basketball career. After winning the Naismith and Wooden player of the year in 1884, Jordan left North Carolina a year before his scheduled graduation to enter the 1984 NBA draft and selected by the Chicago bulls.. He later returned to complete his degree, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography from the North Carolina University in 1986.

Judd Trump to play Mark Selby in International Championship semi-finals in China

New world number one Judd Trump reached the last four of the International Championship with a 6-3 win over Tom Ford in Daqing, China. Trump replaced Ronnie O’Sullivan by beating Joe Perry in the last-16 and he showed no let up against Ford.

The world champion only had three half-century breaks, including a highest of 94, but it was enough to earn a semi-final with Mark Selby on Friday. Selby came through a final-frame decider to beat Gary Wilson 6-5.

This is a first tournament of the season for Trump and his first since beating John Higgins 18-9 to win his maiden World Championship. But this is the third occasion he has been at the top of the rankings, albeit the first time since March 2013.

“It is nice to be number one,” said the 29-year-old. “Anyone that says they don’t want to be world number one is lying. It is always good to be on top of your sport. But the main thing is you really want to win tournaments.”

In the other half of the draw, Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen, the defending champion, plays home favourite Ding Jinhui in his quarter-final with the winner to play either Graeme Dott or Shaun Murphy.
